TIME's Persons of the Year
TIME magazine has named Bill and Melinda Gates and Bono as Persons of the Year, in recognition of their humanitarian work. In a year filled with so much human devastation and unthinkable suffering - the tsunami, Katrina, the earthquake in Pakistan - it's good to see these individuals recognized for their work as good samaritans. Many people, including a very good friend of mine, have quietly gone beyond the call of duty to give what assistance they could, and I sort of see the naming of the Gates' and Bono as Persons of the Year as a symbolic recognition of everyone who does good works. It's nice to see people celebrated for doing something worthwhile for a change.
