I am no fan of award shows, but I was a captive audience last night. Confined to Sheila's room while the renovation is done, I was at the mercy of her TV whims. Just a couple of thoughts:
I thought Hugh Laurie's acceptance speech was fantastic. The same goes for Meryl Streep.
I thought Warren Beatty was an a$$, and Tom Hanks' intro to his special award was BORING and disappointing.
Helen Mirren looked gorgeous.
Forest Whitaker almost made me cry.
And Jack Nicholson actually made me laugh out loud when he noticed the camera on him and stopped laughing with his tablemates and put on a very serious face. And his hair made him look like a baby orangutan.
