Rose cupcakes

Rose cupcakes, originally uploaded by gina64.

Our cousin Karen is getting married in May, in Nashville, and we went to her bridal shower yesterday. It was great to see her and it was a really nice party.

Sheila made these beautiful rose cupcakes and I wanted to share a photo of them with you. They were white cake with white Italian merengue buttercream frosting and the roses she made by hand from white chocolate and corn syrup. They were delicious.

I somehow missed that Sheila made the roses out of white chocolate... I thought she *piped* them by hand. Now I am even more impressed.

Thanks, guys.

Krys, for the roses she melted white chocolate and mixed it with corn syrup and it made a kind of clay, like fondant. She molded each individual petal and them put them together to make the roses. They were edible, but they were wicked sweet - tasted like candy corn - and I could only eat a little bit of one.

But the cake and frosting were yummy.
